We are on a boat 2014, Netherlands, Amsterdam

A boat sharing mobile app.

Once built as transportation routes, defense lines and water management systems, canals in cities such as Amsterdam, Venice and Bruges currently function more like recreation areas for both locals and tourists. If you don’t own a boat but still want to experience the city from the water, there’s often no other choice than getting one at a boat rental company. We Are on a Boat wants to provide a peer-to-peer alternative to this by letting private boat owners offer rides.

We are on a boat matches people who would like to be on a boat with people who are willing to share their boat. You catch a boat ride with friendly, everyday people in your city with extra space in their boats and a willingness to share them with you. You can register as either a passenger or a captain, and then either search for nearby boats or snap a picture of your boat and share it with the world. We help you meet up, exchange the boat ride, and have a great experience, whether you're the captain or the passenger. You won't pay for your boat ride directly. Instead, we push for the concept of rewards for boat captains. Rewards are simply goods. Food, drinks or a little help to the boat fuel. Captains can suggest a reward. And passengers can suggest what they would bring on board to make this boat ride more pleasant for both. Once you've enjoyed your boat ride, you can rate and leave constructive feedback for the captain to make their next rides even better. The socially-driven app startet in Amsterdam, but can be used all over the world.
