FUTURE VISION LAB

C-LAB Technology Media Platform launched the FUTURE VISION LAB project integrating art, culture and technology, with the DOME measuring twelve meters in diameter and six meters in height, which was designed and built in the concept of digital architecture. Inside the DOME was a full-sphere exhibition space equipped with ultra-high resolution image projection, intended to provide immersive audiovisual experiences that challenged the limits of sensory perceptions and blurred the boundaries between the real and the virtual in creation of a fantastical world. Transportable for traveling exhibitions, FUTURE VISION LAB also integrated image algorithm processing, image stitching, surround sound systems with artificial intelligence and high-speed computing platform, aiming to innovate the future of visual arts and effects.

FUTURE VISION LAB is one of the milestones of the Technology Media Platform in 2020, in which the DOME achieved in collaboration with the Graduate Institute of Architecture at National Chiao Tung University is a 12-meter iameter hemispheric structure for video projection, providing audiences a fully immersive audio-visual environment. The entire space from the floor up is a single uninterrupted video projection surface, exhibiting a “naked-eye virtual reality” effect to viewers within, a totally immersive creation in line with FUTURE VISION LAB’s forward-looking aspirations. The opening shows of the DOME were fantastical audio-visual sequences engineered in house at the Technology Media Platform and produced by the Italian New Media Art group fuse*. This and other exhibits were open to the public on both weekdays and weekends, admission free, ranging from otherworldly star-gazing activities to sensorial yoga exercise sessions and immersive 8k cinema. The arrangement of programs strived to be both forwardlooking and accessible to the public, involving local residents in innovative sensory experiences through specially-hosted community sessions. For artists and directors, this also served as an ultimate petri dish in which new forms of expression can be realized, opening vividly onto never-before-seen image-worlds.

Descriptions

Facade type and geometry (structure) : The form of the future dome is a biomimicry design. The primitive shape was a Cuboctahedron projected on a sphere, standing for a spherical cell mass; then, the cell mass further divides and fuses in an orderly way. Consequently, the composition of these cells essentially emerges characteristics of neatness and directionlessness while it shows an orderly logic of separation and harmonious form, providing the necessary strength of the dome structure and organization of the construction process that makes the dome structure possible to come true.

Luminace : 10,000 luminance by each project.
