A memorial installation that symbolises a deep and enduring process of healing and rebirth.
On the site of the destroyed Romanivskyi Bridge in Irpin, the memorial light installation transforms the “Road of Life” into a symbol of healing and rebirth — red luminous threads pulse like sutures on a wound, reminding us that concrete can be broken, but the spirit, will, and faith of the Ukrainian people remain unbreakable.
It is a memorial installation that symbolises a deep and enduring process of healing and rebirth. The light installation is located on the site of the destroyed Romanivskyi Bridge in Irpin, which, after all the horrors of the first days of the Russian invasion, became a symbol of the thirst for life and was named the ‘Road of Life’. To enhance the effect of presence, we used special lighting techniques that draw attention not only to the tragedy of the Ukrainian people, but also emphasise the life-affirming philosophy of the project. Using special museum light, we emphasised the elements of the place of remembrance, and with narrow-beam isolated touches, we revealed red threads that symbolise the suture on a fresh wound and the process of its healing. The pulsating light dramatically emphasises these red threads, which connect the halves of the destroyed bridge. This symbolises that concrete and metal can be destroyed, but spirit, will and faith cannot be destroyed.
